Overall review – 92% of the reviews for this Weber gas grill are very positive and accompanied by a 4 or 5 star rating. This is the least expensive model in the Weber Genesis line, but it is by no means an inexpensive grill. It does not have a side burner, which is one of the main differences between this and the more expensive Genesis grills. It is also lacking the sear station found on the more expensive models. Most people say this grill still leaves good grill marks and sears things quite well.
The overwhelming majority of reviews paint a picture of a solid gas grill built to last for many years to come. This grill heats quickly and is capable of very high heats. It cooks quickly and evenly. The cooking grates are reversible, to better match up with what you are cooking. One side has a triangular shape that allow only a small portion of the cooking grate to touch your food; the other side is flat and allows more contact with the cooking grate. The grates are heavy duty cast iron coated in porcelain so you get the superior cooking ability of cast iron coupled with the lower maintenance of porcelain. These heavy grates leave excellent grill marks and do a fantastic job of searing food. Weber didn’t make the grate all in one piece; this is helpful for two reasons. First, it is easy to remove a section for cleaning rather than removing a large, very heavy grate. Second, you can have part of the grill set with the triangular grates and part with the wider grate.
One thing mentioned in one of the negative reviews is the configuration of the burners. The reviewer felt there was too much room between the burners. Many other reviewers disagree because they like having the ability to cook with indirect heat. This will allow you to slow cook items, like brisket or ribs. The other lackluster reviews (of which there are not many) come from people who received grills that suffered damage in shipping. Unfortunately, this can happen when shipping something so bulky and heavy across the country. Not everyone along that shipping route will care as much about your new gas grill as you and Weber do. The plus side to this is that Weber has an excellent record of customer service. You will even read about people who damaged parts themselves (through their own error) during assembly, yet Weber immediately shipped out replacement parts free of charge.
